Velvet Sofa or Velvet Chair? Velvet Fabric in Your Interior

Soft Materials in Industrial Interiors: Velvet Fabric

The velvet trend has been popular for several years now – and for good reason! It is a wonderfully soft fabric that pairs beautifully with various interior styles. Want to know how to incorporate this trend into your decor? Then keep reading!

Velvet or Velours – What Is It?

Velvet is also known as velours and is a special type of fabric where small cotton or silk loops are woven. The result is a shiny, soft surface with fluffy, upright fibers. In velours, these loops are often cut, creating short hairs. This unique manufacturing process originated in Asia and was brought to Europe in the 14th century – including to Italy and Belgium.
Velvet is actually just the English term for “fluweel” (flannel) and was once a fabric primarily worn by wealthy individuals. However, today velvet can also be used to enhance interiors – and why shouldn’t you do that yourself?

The Many Possibilities of Velvet Fabric

One of the great advantages of velvet is that it can be used for many applications. In a classic interior, velvet looks particularly beautiful, for example in velvet chairs or velvet sofas. This creates a particularly luxurious look that adds a modern, elegant touch to a classic interior.

Nowadays, it is also very trendy to use velvet fabric in an industrial interior. An industrial table surrounded by velvet-upholstered chairs creates a striking contrast while fitting perfectly into this style. A modern setup can also be perfectly complemented with a velvet chair. Why not also use velvet home accessories like velvet curtains to make the living room feel warmer and more elegant?

Velvet as a Low-Maintenance Fabric in Interiors

Another advantage of velvet fabric? It is very low-maintenance. If you’re not yet convinced by this home trend, perhaps the thought that you have very little work with velvet sofas, chairs, and accessories will help. Simply vacuum occasionally and dust with a special velvet brush – that’s all it takes to keep the material in good condition. This way, you can enjoy your interior for even longer while velvet provides a luxurious, cozy atmosphere!
